Pink wedding accomplished

All went according to plan. Those who were meant to get married found the right person and no innocent bystanders were harmed 👍

Our daughter and niece pulled out all the stops as bridesmaids . . perfectly behaved (during the ceremony and photos at least) and made my cousin very happy 😊

I'd brought along changes of clothes for the reception, but no it turns out that blancmange pink is all the rage with 13-14 year olds at the moment and neither would be parted from their dresses. Made it easy to spot them in the descending twilight as they flitted between food tables and building dams in the hotel garden 😅

Niece had her sights set on a male cousin all afternoon and was most disgruntled when he went awol (along with most of the other male guests) during the dancing 🙄 It's a lesson that all girls must learn though and I was more than satisfied with my brightly attired dance partners 😌

We whisked our cinderellas away just before midnight. Just checked in and they're still slumbering peacefully 😴

That paragraph about the dancing made me laugh. I resemble that remark so much. One of my brothers never had any such inhibitions, was always quite popular when he was single.

@ninalanyon Like ships that pass in the night . . my niece was nervous as well and would have been equally tongue-tied among boys.

We probably need to return to 19th century social etiquette with dance cards and formal rules, lol 🙂

@SunshineGirl At my junior high school in the 1960s we did have sort of hint of that with organized dances in which dancing was compulsory. I'm not convinced that it works without a proper network of aunts and grandmothers doing a lot of matchmaking which of course was not the case at school.

But all joking aside, some rules can make life easier. Even for those who prefer not to have any rules the presence of the rules allows them to break them and stand out from the crowd.

Also your niece will probably soon realize that she has the power over the boys.

@ninalanyon At my girls school we used to have organised social events with our partner boys school. They were quite fun, but I imagine still painful for the shy. I got banned one year from the dance for being too bossy 🙄

That sounds like you all had a nice time, and for some reason boys don't seem keen on dancing.

@MommyLucy So do I!

I got my two cinderellas back shortly after midnight, but no damage done. Today they have been sleeping beauties . . slept in until past midday and she's already wanting to go back to bed 😴
