Is it tradition to smash cake in the bride's face at her wedding?

We didn't smash it. We did feed eachother a piece. His piece though that he tried to feed me was too much icing which got all over my lips and little on my chin. His groomsmen were chanting lick it off 😳 my poor little 18 year old self wanted to nose dive under the table. He though took a napkin and carefully cleaned it off. Was sweet actually.
