Is that like the girl that cried wolf though? If there is an actual tornado, would anyone respond to the alarm?
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@JamesBugman there will always be a chance a real tornado occurs at the exact minute the drill alarm goes off . But that’s 1 minute out of a calendar month , so the odds are slim to none . Tornados also mostly occur in the PM. I’d imagine the drill alarm is in the AM

@JamesBugman 35 years ago a tornado hit a suburb here and there wasn't a warning until it was too late, so the sirens didn't go off in time to let everyone know to take cover. It could happen.

@JamesBugman We get those alerts too often. They're ignored unless there is a green glow with a freight train sound.

Do you get many tornadoes there? I live in Pennsylvania we get very few. Had the first recorded one ever in the town I live at just last year.
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@Jonjdw You bet. I'm a bit surprised that Illinois isn't in tornado alley.
@SubstantialKick Me too. That's my territory
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
And a Dang good idea to do so too! Checking that is, you never know when it could be for real.

I was in Chicago on Tuesday July 1 this year . Swam in Lake Michigan
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@NativePortlander1970 no. Ate an Al's beef sandwich , swam at oak street beach, did a boat tour. Stayed only 1 night
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@AthrillatheHunt sorry meant Ohio street beach
@AthrillatheHunt So when the alarm went off you ran into the lake? Not sure that would save you.
BamPow · 51-55, M
I just moved away from the area, and I remember thinking how screwed we’d all be if there was an actual tornado at 10am on a Tuesday.

They used to do that on Wednesday at 11:00 here. Stopped a few years ago.
Ours is every Wednesday at noon.
They test it here every tuesday from early may to early october at 10am, or are supposed to, this morning was the first time they sounded ours since mid may, it's because the sirens scare the fuck out of the newly transplanted calis and east coasters.
