Can you pour boiling hot water into a plastic bottle or do I have to wait till the water is cools down?

My water filter is broke and I cant buy a new one until Saturday, and I cant buy water till then either. So now I have to boil water cause where I live theres always 'boil water' alerts and that makes me way too paranoid to drink from the tap hahah.

I could taste the chemicals that leach out of hot water in a plastic bottle if I leave it in the car and its still hot. Personally I would use a metal or a glass one if they make it.

@MarmeeMarch I do have a glass bottle actually, im kinda scared it will crack the glass tho
