I hate 4th of July

On the 4th of July I don't set off fireworks. I celebrate by reading the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence.

All that, and the stress and terror they cause for countless domesticated animals. My little dog buddy has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and I feared she wouldn't make it to her 14th birthday. People have been setting off loud fireworks around here, at all hours, since last Friday night. 😑

True. The only legal fireworks displays here are by the city, set off in specific areas and carefully monitored, within specific hours, that people can come to watch.

Other than that, they’re not allowed—which stops no one.

Police traditionally spend the day citing people for illegal fireworks, firefighters put out resulting fires, EMTs treat resulting injuries.

That doesn’t even address the folks who mark the day by shooting off weapons. 😳

We have had that discussion in Canada too.
