When did we decide to get fire involved with birthdays? Why is that a thing?

Like it’s cute when they’re three and need daddy’s help to blow out the candles, or when they’re ten and make a wish for a new iBox or whatever. But I turn 53 this year…I feel like we’re gonna need the fire department standing by, or at least cousin Bob on extinguisher duty 🫩

I don’t know when, but I’m confident it was first performed by the same oaf who developed black Over-the-Hill birthday balloons. I felt the same way about it at 25 as I do at 75.
