In less than two weeks I will be 74

This is a matter of amazement for me.

Older just keeps happening. I must have thought it would stop or at least pause, but no.

It’s like being on an old sliding board in some abandoned playground. It’s not smooth and it’s rusted, but with many a jolt and scary bump (is it finally breaking?), you shudder and startle and at last arrive at the bottom, and people swarm around you yelling, “Happy birthday!!!”

What, again?

We could only wish we make it that far and still be around with your grace and positive outlook on life. Mom's nearly 80 and I am in complete awe over her life. She has endured so much, experienced so much joy, and helped built so much character in those whose lives she touched.
@DrScissorhands I used to be hurt when the young spoke disparagingly of the old. Now it’s ironic amusement that they don’t think they’re on the same playground.

:) I can only wish to have your clarity of mind and vibrant energy, fresh eyes, compassionate heart, humour and longevity!
You may think it's too much what I say but I truly mean each word.
I cannot imagine how rich life can be in old age. You make it seem rich.
@being There are perks. One is that all the things you thought were going to kill you at sixteen or thirty or fifty didn’t kill you. You are tougher than you realized.

Thank you for your sweet words.

@Mamapolo2016 and thank you for sharing your tips, ideas and all, this strength is communicated 💙
@being That is more encouraging than you can imagine.

Happy Birthday.
It makes me feel so emotional everytime it's my mom's bday. She's getting older and I'm away.
@mindstruggle I hope you get to see her soon. Good mothers are to be truly treasured. 🤗
@mindstruggle I had the rare privilege (rare these days) of being able to move in with my mom and care for her when she (finally) needed help. I had mostly lived away and we got to know each other.

One of my fondest memories of her is when she ultimately needed 24/7 care and I couldn’t keep her safe. She actually escaped from the nursing home. The police pulled her over on her wheelchair (not electric, powered by sheer determination) on the Main Street of our sleepy little town.

She was intent on going to see her only brother, because he was sick and needed her. In truth, he had died, at 43, almost half a century earlier, from an undiagnosed heart defect.

But she was hell bent for election to care for him, and little things like locks and rules and transportation would not stop her.

Bless her heart. 🥺♥

I'm sitting at the top of that slide, grateful to you for checking it out before I give it a try!
@DrWatson That’s me. The Path Finder.

I am being serious here but does there come an age when aging is less shocking?

I am 50 and I think, "Where the f*** did most of my life go?"

How can we be little kids acting rowdy one day and then the next, here we are with the scars of life?

One good thing I suppose is people do not try to BS us as much.
Punches · 46-50, F
@Mamapolo2016 😄 ahh it would not be so bad.

If you have kids, someone needs to stick around to aggravate them. Is that not our lifelong duty as parents? 😁
@Punches Aggravating the person who may well select your nursing home is not smart. Besides, my ex is so wildly over-the-top aggravating that he’s a tough act to follow. I want her to see me as The Tolerable Parent.
Punches · 46-50, F
@Mamapolo2016 Well there is typically the "Cool" parent and then the "difficult" one.

I'm 2 years and 2 months behind you. I can empathise!
@ArtieKat Yep. Wanna go clubbing? We’ll shock those lil whippersnappers.

Congrats on making it that far
@Jexie The optimist fell from a 40-story building and at every floor on the way down, he called out “Okay so far!”
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
You certainly don't look it!
@Nitedoc The photo is ten years old. But I still don’t look it. The blessing of genetics.
