Or let's be honest -- the real star of the show is Harry the Lizard. :D

Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) is my favorite, but each of them had their unique quirkiness and I didn't dislike any of them.
They have strted a sequel with Detective Inspector Goodman which is set in England.
@DragonFruit Yes ! "Beyond Paradise”. It’s pretty good, too.
thisguy20 · 41-45, M
@bijouxbroussard I'll have to look out for that one.
sciguy18 · M
I’m partial to Jack Mooney, but I think that might be because I know the actor from other shows.
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@sciguy18 I'm not a fan of changing characters but I guess it's inevitable in a show that runs for a long time.
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@sciguy18 Ardal O'Hanlon was in Father Ted and My Hero. I'm not sure what else.
@Jacko1971 Like Ben Miller (Miller and Armstrong) he had a career in standup comedy. Kris Marshall is also a stage actor who’s performed Shakespeare. Ralf Little was also an athlete (soccer).

Each have their qualities I think. As far as the cast goes I miss Josephine Jobert
@Jacko1971 I miss him, too. Jean-Pierre grew into a similar character, then Marlon took Dwayne’s role as a younger version of him. The interactions between Marlon & Dwayne when Danny John-Jules returned was hilarious.
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@bijouxbroussard I don't think I know Marlon. Dwayne was replaced by the Commissioner's niece. She was very annoying.
@Jacko1971 Yes, she was, rather.
I'm not familiar with it, but it sounds like something I should get familiar with. Thanks!!
@ElwoodBlues I don’t know if you have the Ovation channel, but there’s been a marathon of episodes today.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
Richard poole was my fave closely followed by Kris

Kris has started doing a spin off called Beyond Paradise, there'll be a crossover when the new series of Death in Paradise starts, and we may see some of the old cast?!

Ralf little is doing a great job so far to be honest, but Ive always liked him as an actor
@Gangstress I’ve watched Beyond Paradise and I like it. I’m looking forward to Season 2.
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
My least favorite is Neville. I’m glad they’ve toned down his anxiety a bit. Favorite is probably Humphrey, but I like Jack and Richard, too. Are you watching Beyond Paradise as well? I like that Humphrey has a spin-off. Martha’s annoying, but maybe she’ll be better in season two. 😄
@ChampagneOnIce Yes ! I found it on Prime and watched the first season. It’s very good, I think.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
I kinda like "Neville Parker" best -- but really loved Danny John-Jules as Officer Dwayne.
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@ChipmunkErnie pretty much. He goes around saying "ow" all the time.

@Jacko1971 Wow ! He has a nice singing voice. And his voice definitely sounds different than on the show.

I haven't see them all but Goodman was very disorganized and likable...he was also perfectly irresponsible in Sanditon
@fun4us2b Yes, I saw him in Sanditon after I’d seen him as DI Goodman. Have you seen his spin-off, "Beyond Paradise" ?
fun4us2b · M
@bijouxbroussard No, but I will look for it !
thisguy20 · 41-45, M
I prefer Jack Mooney. Think its a combination of his family stories, the fact that his cards have his last name spelled "Money", and his Colombo like playing dumb.
@thisguy20 He’s my favorite, as well. I do like all of them, but Mooney’s not strait-laced like Poole, he’s funny but not awkward like Goodman, and he’s not anxious like Parker. I loved the way he was with his daughter. And as a widower, he’s fatherly, not flirty with Florence. And I like his relationship with the Commissioner, who respects him.
@bijouxbroussard Really. Richard is what intrigued me about the show. He's a younger curmudgeon that was so everything the island was not.

Jack mooney, I blame the writers. He himself was fine, but the story lines started going off the rails and only grew worse once Parker was there.
@nonsensiclesnail Ah, okay.
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@nonsensiclesnail thats often the case with shows that run for a long time.
HappyBella · 41-45, F
I have only seen the episodes with Kris Marshall.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
Ben Miller for me
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@Pretzel my wife liked Ben Miller. I'm not sure why particularly.

The original is often the best.
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
Kris Marshall was my favourite. I haven't got to the current one yet. The last I saw, Ardal OHanlon's new girlfriend was going home. That was where iPlayer I haven't got up to last time I checked. I haven't seen anything after that.
Humphrey😀
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
They each had their endearing qualities. The ensemble cast was wonderful! They often walked a thin line with his female policewomen!
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@samueltyler2 I wasn't keen on Humphrey lusting after Camille. I didn't get that vibe with any of the others. Richard definitely wasn't interested and Jack was in mourning over his wife and pining for his daughter. She was rather lovely, by the way.
@Jacko1971 I don’t know. I loved the banter between Bordey and Poole, and warm feelings seemed to develop between them.
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
Before starring in Death in Paradise, Kris Marshall played a completely different kind of policeman in Murder City.
@Jacko1971 Interesting. I wonder if I can find it on Britbox or Acorn…
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@bijouxbroussard I don't know. It was made for ITV. I don't know if that makes a difference. I couldn't find any clips to post.
Richard, hands down. but Humphrey was fine.
The last two?? They encouraged me to stop watching the show.
