Britain, France and (likely) soon Germany with governments that last less than a lettuce

Meanwhile here over two years without a single crisi di governo? All the days are the same, every day the same faces on TV

What the f*ck happened to this timeline?

Well the results speak for themselves.

My brother in law's parents who are also Italian and live in Italy say the media are hysterical and she is Centre Right. Not sure what your hot take on this is 😅
Elessar · 26-30, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic She's definitely moved somewhat towards the center (compared to how she campaigned before becoming PM) but nonetheless I wouldn't define this thing "center"
@Elessar Thanks, always good to get opinions from Italians and not just listen to the media.
Don't forget about the Netherlands. We've been having weekly government crises ever since the elections, throughout the formation and the governing. And meanwhile the intended big overhaul has been "we're going to continue what the last cabinet started" on every topic of the week.
They have all adaopted the Italian model. Seems like the Italians have went the other way

@Ozymandiaz The only countries that work now are the PI(I)GS 🐷✊🏻

PIGS have got into the farmhouse 🐷

But have no fear, Britain is set for five years of 😴
@SunshineGirl

Well, that's if you believe the majority of the UK media, who seem to think that a Labour government is an affront to nature.

But

Labour has just increased the minimum wage for thousands maybe millions of people.

Labour cannot build affordable housing overnight; it can and should bring in a Rent Act to control private landlords whose greed has gone through the roof. No doubt that move would be attacked as 'socialism', an 'assault on entrepreneurs' etc.

Labour has negotiated with doctors. That's been criticised too though no doubt if doctors were out on strike, there would be scary headlines about Labour bringing the NHS to a halt.

The NHS is already seeing more patients, something to celebrate.

The increase in NI for small businesses does NOT apply to all businesses; the same with the farmers - it will only apply to the wealthier farmers. Small businesses may have to absorb some losses. The disaster scenario being painted will not occur. They won't all close just as all the billionaires won't go overseas.

Yes, Winter Fuel Allowance was an own goal. Retaining the 2-child cap is not smart either. The shivering elderly, the starving young - just missing the trifecta which would have been obtained with cruelty to furry animals.

This Labour party is not going to be visionary and daring. Sadly, it's also not tackling the wealth gap by taking on the mega-rich. So far at least. If it can get most things balanced, it will be time for the visionary younger activists to move into the Houses of Parliament - perhaps they can take over the House of Lords space once the anachronistic inheritors of privilege are shooed out and back to their (unearned, inherited) huge estates, grand houses and farms. And let's bring in brilliant experienced minds across all fields, people like Attenborough and Goodall to advise on existential issues.

It's all looking better a few months in than it did under the Tory Toffs Corruption Party. So funny hearing Johnson chiming in from his moated splendour. Have people really forgotten so quickly?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Mesthartiya I wasn't making that statement as a criticism. Five years of stability and boring politics is just what Britain needs right now. Labour is doing more or less what it says on the tin . . not that you'd guess it from our rather biased media.
Morvoren · F
The laziest of Google searches shows you’ve got your fair share problems.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Morvoren Obviously, but at least we somehow figured out how to keep the Russian simps at bay (even though hopefully I'm not speaking too soon)

Macron has just been duped and I see no possible coalitions that would work, Starmer idk how stable he is and Farage seems to be en-route to become the British Trump, Germany too is in a situation sorta like France where there's no coalition that would work and the Russia simps are doing their best to make things even harder
Europe is doing great, especially Italian people. Closed borders and a war? Fascists are back and peace is a joke! Europe showing its true nature!
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Roundandroundwego NATO doesn't concern me, Russia does
@Elessar whatever - peace would never be at home with NATO there, and I don't think anyone in Europe would trade NATO for peace. It's a Western thing. Not mind is not mind. Europe has no mind other than to please the most dangerous killer of the moment.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Roundandroundwego Peace would never be at home with Russia having expansionist ambitions on the side. NATO is the one thing that keeps the war out of western Europe
Nothing wrong with uk government

@jshm2 Was*, indeed. Roles seem to have reversed now for some reason.

She's around because right-wing parties are capable of forming stable coalitions, whereas leftwing and centrist ones (arguably especially centrist ones, see Renzi and Calenda) are at each other's throat all the timee. Governments lasting less than their theoretical term doesn't automatically trigger an early election, budget has nothing to do with this. By the way, I'm no fan of this government, but seeing the state of the "opposition" I get why we're in the situation we're in.

BoJo/Truss and Barnier already collapsed, they're not hypotheticals. Whoever will come after Scholz will essentially stand on a three legged table.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I lived through 15 years of Berlusca, Salvini, Renzi, her, nothing scares me anymore. I don't know a single "non-fùcked" moment of this country's politics
