Care workers and skilled too. NHS clinical staff, software engineers, project managers also in short supply

Covid do that migrant workers are not there and nobody else wants such jobs.

One of the dis-benefits of Brexit in barring workers from Easter Europe and other places😂

Only if you're prepared to work for peanuts. People doing these jobs, even skilled workers, often have to rely on food banks to eat. :(

@Sharon People don't know how to manage their money and tell everyone can't afford to buy food. There are many jobs where I live but my friend prefers to live on benefit rather than working.
I know people who get pay minimum wage but they have never complained about no food to eat.

@Arrow17 Actually, in some case, benefits can be greater than what they could earn. Have you heard of the "gig economy" or "zero hours contracts"? Those people supposedly have jobs but are often given no work to do so don't get paid.
Some skilled workers are not paid enough to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads. They also have other "necessities" such as school uniforms to pay for. Figures of £500 - £700 per child at secondary school aren't unusual.
I suspect you have a very well paid job or some other source of a sizeable income. Not everyone is as fortunate. :(

As was said on the news the other day, “some locals don’t wish to do these jobs.” If you are unemployed and there’s work available you should be made to do it!

Same in Aus - immigration is effectively at zero.
helenS · 36-40, F
@ButterRobot There is a global backlash against immigration in the United States, Britain and much of Europe, even Australia is reversing course, turning away from a policy of welcoming skilled foreigners that helped fuel decades of economic growth.
It's a mystery. People appear to believe they are better off without immigrants.
