Obviously not from Texas but I just picked my son up from a summer camp a week ago. I hugged him very tight when I heard about all the flooding. I can’t imagine what those parents are going through. Definitely praying for them.

@Heartlander Our son's family moved there last summer. Part of their city was evacuated, but they live on top of a hill and are safe.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@exexec Just a 5 or 6 foot hill can may be enough. A brother lives on the Mississippi coast and just being on the north side of the Interstate-10 rise is enough to keep him safe ... so far.
exexec · 70-79, C
@Heartlander That's true for us here on the coast, but you need more in the hill country. The river rose from 1 foot deep to 34 feet deep at one point, so you needed to be fairly high to escape its effects.

I know many in the San Antonio area.

None are Republican either. This affects everyone regardless of politics or beliefs.

It's sad that some are not considering this.
13 dead, more missing. I'm in San Antonio now. Was raining heavily here earlier and last night.

@Jokersswild We have been watching updates on Houston TV.

Awful!

When I heard the first reports here in the UK, quite early this morning, I hoped the missing people are all found alive. I know now from later news bulletins that tragically, many lives have been lost.

I will pray for the innocent's. Those who voted to save money by not building in protections, those who voted for the deniers of climate change, I am not sure I can ever forgive them.

This morning's update: 25 confirmed dead and 20+ girls still missing from a camp. Unknown others are missing.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@exexec So much like the Kansas City flood of 1977. It came on so fast that escape was impossible for some. So very different from the Fargo floods where they know it's coming and when it will be there and they have a million sandbags at the ready and a pre-established game plan.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@exexec Homes destroyed too though property is replaceable. A life is not. Our thoughts are for everyone affected..

Prayers up.

@exexec Don't people ever watch the weather reports on tv?
exexec · 70-79, C
@Diotrephes I agree. They are still building subdivisions in flood plains in our area.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@exexec When we pile on years of no flooding it's like everyone looses track of where the hills and valleys are. And then when 500 year floods start happening every 50 years they still don't take the hint, until that 500 year flood revisit within 10 years.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@exexec I've been spared disasters from fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, riots, lightning, crimes, and floods. I have no idea how I would cope if I had to face such disasters. But I do try to learn from what countless others have experienced so I try my best to avoid such situations.

It's best to learn from other people's experiences. Always try to protect yourself.

Stop using private jets then, and perhaps we will have a chance.
