When I posted about my power earlier, I had no idea how bad things were just east of here.

The phones were down but I just assumed the best. That no news yet was good news.

Everyone is safe but several of our family members and friends have lost their homes, including my older sister.

We really got lucky here but my heart hurts for everyone else 😭

My kid is feeling some kind of survivor's guilt because she was unscathed but so many people not far from her got hammered.

@ineedadrink The survivors guilt is real, honestly.

When all the horrible footage of the storm was on youtube ,I thought of you and several others,here...I hope insurance covers the damage for the homes

@SwampFlower 🌪I was watching a 24 hour stream...storms are tricky and very scary
@bookerdana Sadly many insurance companies refuse to cover certain kinds of disaster policies in particular areas because of just how frequent they are, and those companies that do the premiums are an arm and a leg.

@NativePortlander1970 That is very true where we used to live in Florida but thankfully this isn't common here. The last time I saw anything even close to this was back in 2004.

we didn't get power back until around noon yesterday, cell towers weren't back up until today. Most gas stations are still outta fuel; generators are sold out, stores didn't get bottled water in until this evening (it sold out sunday morning)

That terrible. I'm not a homeowner but I know what it's like to lose everything. I'm glad they're safe.
