Climatic disaster

How long do you think we have left before the world becomes uninhabitable for humans

Tomorrow or never and that's the problem... if it isn't going to happen tomorrow, people don't seem to give a damn.

Another part of the problem is that anthropogenic climate change is hard to precisely calculate, which gives the naysayers room to cast doubt on just how much, if any, humanity has contributed to climate change.

Im pretty sure the aliens will come and kill us all before that happens. and even if the humans die off, there will be plenty of reptilians to repopulate the planet. cough.

The only way this planet will become uninhabitable will be if there's a nuclear war or a huge asteroid

Humanity has reached a point where we as a species can survive nearly anything. Lots of people can die but that's besides the point

@HannahSky have some respect for the OP

@deadgerbil ok fine, you'll be ok, you're young enough to survive

Anthropogenic climate change won't make the Earth uninhabitable for humans. What it will do is raise sea levels enough to flood many sea level cities and sink low-lying islands. The amount of buildings and infrastructure at risk of flooding by unchecked anthropogenic climate change is worth hundreds of trillions of dollars. It's worth spending money to avert further climate change to save all those cities.

@ElwoodBlues Well, it wont be completely uninhabitable, but on top of sea level flooding, it will also render large areas currently used for growing food unusable, and more areas much more limited in fertility, so mass starvation will be an issue at the same time. The die-off of humans will be hideous.
@firefall Agreed. There are a lot of good reasons to avert further anthropogenic climate change.

Anywhere between 20 and eternity, it depends.
It's a good question. We could probably choose to change course and inhabit this world.

Relax, it's not ending

If we worked together we could weather any severity of climate change. Problem is humans are distracted by their collective unconscious schizophrenia to ever even have empathy for each other. Our own collective mental illness is what will kill us. And maybe nature built it in as a kill switch the whole time to eventually wipe humanity out.
