Everyone wants clean air, clean water, a healthy environment. And everyone loves the idea of free or cheap energy. We're on our 2nd hybrid auto, and getting 50 miles per gallon VS 25 miles per gallon cuts our gas bill in half.
BUT ... the US go-green policy looks more like a Go-China policy than a policy that will benefit Americans.

@Heartlander but do you believe in it cause you want the world to be better
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Harmony Cheap energy benefits everyone earth. Including me.
Harmony · 31-35
@Heartlander of course it does. But do believe in an climate emergency hoax?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Heartlander isn't that a mistake on the part of US industry, of former US policy? If the country decides to do something, don't you think it could ramp up rapidly. Think of other high priorities, the COVID vaccines for example!
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Harmony No. I believe dirty air is unhealthy, I believe population increases may overwhelm available resources and interfere with the natural balance needed to sustain life. But the climate emergency is too political to be taken seriously. And the evidence that it's a hoax can be seen in the political remedies.
Harmony · 31-35
@Heartlander well said. But there is so little air pollution where I live

@samueltyler2 I'm also thinking of the polio vaccines that gave people polio, and the Thalidomide mistake, the phen-phen mistakes. All came with the blessings of the US government. Our government sent our military to Vietnam, to Iraq, to Afghanistan with convincing arguments that were flawed.
Harmony · 31-35
@Heartlander of course. But do you believe that Climate emergency is all a hoax
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Harmony
The hoax is exposed in the remedies. The need to upend the entire world economy to save the earth. The whole world except for China, where they have to build more and more coal fired power plants to meet America's emergency needs for solar panels.
One obvious giveaway is the windmill, while little attention is given to harvesting sea energy. Is it because windmills are visible and sea energy can be captured underwater where no one sees it?

@Heartlander you don't know your history about those medications!
The polio problem was NOT, let me emphasize that was not governmental problem. It was a company screw up. It was picked up quickly by the government and corrected, sadly, yes some children contracted polio!
Thalidomide was blocked from licensing in the US by a worker at the FDA who delf there was something wrong with the date, she fought industry and refused to approve it. That proved how useful people at the FDA, and the agency's job is. https://www.fda.gov/about-fda/fda-history-exhibits/frances-oldham-kelsey-medical-reviewer-famous-averting-public-health-tragedy
Phen phen, actually fen-phen is another interesting situation. The medications were licensed separately, then combined for weight reduction. The cardiac side effects occurred in a very small percentage of cases. Thus, was never picked up in studies looking for a one in a million situation. Once the effect was identified, and the pathogeneses behind it is still unknown, the combination was pulled from the market. "Phentermine and Phen Phen are not the same123. Phentermine is a psychostimulant drug of the phenethylamine class, with pharmacology similar to amphetamine4. The active ingredient of phentermine is phentermine HCL, which is structurally similar to amphetamine2. Fenfluramine was one of the ingredients in "fen-phen," and dexfenfluramine is closely related to fenfluramine. The "phen" in fen-phen refers to a drug called phentermine, which wasn't banned3."

@Heartlander you need to do a little more research. there are major areas in which the power of the seas are being tested in making power, primarily electric.
China took over the manufacture lead, since no US company did, and the US is in more denial. VChina has been cutting down on its use of fossil fuels faster than we, but they have so many more people, and land, that it isn;t as obvious!

@samueltyler2 You are nipping at the edges :)
The US imposes stricter environmental related constraints on US companies but then grants China favorite trading partner status even though China has far fewer restrictions?
The US imposes more and more restrictive worker rules but then grants favorite trading partner status to China, a country with much lower pay rates, and far fewer restrictions on their workers?
The U S demands that US businesses pay higher and higher tax rates, but then gives China favorite trading partner status, even though China businesses pay far less in taxes?
US energy policies are like human resources policies and tax policies, more like the aim is to economically benefit China.
The question isn't if but why?

@Heartlander no idea what you mean by nipping at the edges, and "if but why." I am stating published data. The bottle m.line, the earth is beautiful ng stressed, everyone has to try their best, if everyone stands around saying, you go first, the efforts never get started.
