@KiwiBird In general terms, yes. If they are bred as livestock (a man-made process). Cows that are not kept as livestock produce much less methane because they are not pumped full of growth hormones and all sorts of other shit.

@SW-User Your logic and knowledge of bovine husbandry however leave alot to be desired. The dairy industry in New Zealand prohibits the use of growth hormones. I am also sure that the breeding between cows and bulls is not a man made process.

Livestock cows are also fed, among other things, sawdust, ground rock, and candy, believe it or not, as well as being pumped full of antibiotics, all of which contribute to excessive methane production.

The number of cows needs to be reduced MASSIVELY.

And whilst we are playing morally justified culling, we can then look into your habits and if you arent compliant with scary co2 rules we can judge you, maybe a cull?

@gol979 Culling cows won't make any direct difference to scary CO2 (although the billions of tons of emissions saved by not clearing forests for pasture or soy plantations will...), but it WILL make a difference to even scarier methane, which is thousands of times more potent than CO2.
