I Worry About Global Warming

I do. I hear dreadful things happening. And I wonder what will happen where I live. I heard global warming can cause cooling in some places. We don’t usually have frost til October. But this week Dad was driving me to the bus stop and there was ice on the hair pin bend at the bottom of the hill off the mountain.

It’s liberal BS designed to get money . Global warming is a multbillion dollar industry. Just ask Al Gore. None of their predictions ever come true so they are now claiming it’s about 100 years into the future. It’s BS . No facts , just supposition, lies, and altering data

I am sorry but I have no idea what BS means. And Al Gore sounds like a name. Please, I have no idea. If you took the time to explain I could enter into the debate. @TexChik

@Hepsie Al Gore was a politician that made climate change his pet issue, and said some alarmist things. What people tend to forget is that he’s a politician, not a scientist, and was never an authority on the matter.

Ok. Thank you. @QuixoticSoul

Worrying is not going to do anything. What are you personally doing to lessen the effects?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@daisymay We are here because you think I am trying to tell you and others what to do. Instead, I am trying to challenge you to think for yourself and beyond your own BS.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@MarkPaul Ah, right my opinions are BS and yours are truth. Okay, bye now!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@daisymay Oki. Thanks for stopping in.

I seemed to have stirred up a lot of feelings. I am just a farm girl and I want to do what I can to be a good steward of our home.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Hepsie That's the best most of us can do.
Hepsie · 22-25, F
What is going on Mark Paul. We are surrounded by comments I don’t understand. Can’t we just do what we can? @MarkPaul
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Hepsie Yes! That is all that I am saying and care about. My point is simply worrying doesn't accomplish anything. But, if we each do what we can, that can go along way. Right?
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
Don't. There is no Global Warming
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Hepsie I am positive.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@daisymay it would take too long to explain

AKA "I got nuthin'".

My understanding is It's called climate change now because it was proven not to be getting any warmer on average. Climate change I believe in, but what causes it is difficult to prove.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Hepsie The North Atlantic is cooling significantly because of the influx of cold melt water from Greenland. Fresh water from melting ice is less dense than the seawater, and floats on top of the ocean. If you look at just about any global map that shows monthly temperature deviations from normal, you'll see most of the globe is shades of red (hotter than normal) along with a few scattered blue (cooler than normal) areas. The water off the southern tip of Greenland is almost always cooler than normal. This disrupts the water than normally sinks there due to density and causes global ocean currents, including the Gulf Stream which keeps the UK and Northern Europe warmer than it would otherwise be.
Hepsie · 22-25, F
So why is there a cold area by my my area? @windinhishair
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Hepsie It is likely related to the changes I mentioned above for the North Atlantic. One other factor has to do with the pattern of warmth. The arctic is warming much faster than equatorial regions, and the resulting temperature gradients have been causing weather patterns to get locked into place for extended periods in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Eastern US, we've had a couple of extraordinarily cold winter periods (and I believe you have had some too), while the Western US has essentially baked during winter, because the weather remains the same for weeks. Perhaps you are seeing a combination of events, but it isn't unexpected even though the globe is warming up several degrees Celsius.

Call it what you want but this planet and all the others are in constant change... its SCIENCE!!!! base your decision on scientific facts NOT what people say. :-) btw..the frost was probably cuz that corner was in the shade and the humidity and temps changed. Dont look too far into it. hahaha
Hepsie · 22-25, F
Thank you. I know it was even colder in the past. @black4white
Hepsie · 22-25, F
Are we causing climate change. Why is it icy in September. Does any one really know?
Hepsie · 22-25, F
Thank you. I really want to talk to you abour bits I don’t uderstand.@QuixoticSoul
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Hepsie I’m not an expert or authority either - I’m an engineer not a scientist. But always happy to discuss sciency things - it’s a hobby.
Hepsie · 22-25, F
So a perspective on what’s occurring. @QuixoticSoul
