You need binoculars unless you have a very dark sky, and even then, binoculars will help a lot. The bright moon now will be your biggest problem even if it's clear. Worth a try but the moonlight now washes out all but the brightest objects.

No, too much light and air pollution around here. Hell, we're lucky to se a few dozen stars in the Milky Way these days. :(
I looked for it with my binoculars but I couldn't spot it.. we only had a couple of partially clear night's

Just a little green speck through my binoculars ... Hale-Bopp was much more satisfying for me personally, I wasn't even looking for it and damn, it was impossible to miss, while driving no less
