they cant force us to buy electric cars

SW-User
@Penny Nope, but the switch to EVs is inevitable, and they will soon become far cheaper to run than petrol/diesel cars.

@SW-User they arent really the safest vehicles,

SW-User
@Penny Aren't they? How come? They're much safer than petrol/diesel cars

@SW-User they can catch fire. and what about people who live in condos who cant charge overnight? plus i think tthe main problem with electric cars is that they runon electricity. i think gas is preferred to more nuclear power

@Penny Firstly, infrastructure is being put in place to allow for pavement chargers. Secondly...you honestly think electric cars are safer than normal cars? You realise the risks we take whenever we fuel? Think of this, right? What if we were switching from EVs to fossil fuel cars?
Say you are writing the risk assessment for a new fuel station. You want to dig a big hole in the ground in the middle of town, put in some tanks and fill them up with an enormous amount of highly flammable fuel.
Then you're proposing to attach a really powerful pump and invite in random members of the public.
They'll arrive in vehicles with hot engines. You'll hand them the really powerful pump that sprays the highly flammable liquid.
Without any supervision they'll use it to transfer large quantities of the highly flammable liquid into their hot vehicle, they'll pay you and drive off.
Are you OK to sign off on that? Do you think Health and Safety will give it the green light? I'd rather plug my car in...

I suppose not. They also can't force you to recycle, quit smoking, or stop driving drunk, if you don't really want to.
