Hi Laurie~ another option would be to soak it off. It probably will less painful. I would then clean it with some neosporin and put a bandaide on it. I hope you feel better :)

make sure to clean the cut after taking the sock off

What I do when that happens to me is put my foot (and sock) in a warm shower. Eventually it kind of melts the blood and you can get the sock off without too much pain.

@GlassDog: Your skin softens when wet and the sock will become soggy as well, just like adhesive bandages come off easier when wet.

You could try wetting it. Might help your sock come off easier. Regardless, I'd suggest sanitizing the wound immediately after.

Uhh... that's missing some (gruesome) detail to figure out what's the best though!
Clean the cut and put a bandaid on it so your socks don't stick to it.
