@Bottomschmackenloudenboomer: I'm sorry... I'm lucky to get a dog. I'm younger than 18 so I haven't moved out but a couple years ago we got roxy because she is a rescue dog. Before we came to her lives she was a hunting dog (she is a German short haired pointer) and she is TERRIBLE at hunting. So her old owner abandoned foxy (Rory's old name) and she lost 40 pounds wandering around for like, a year. My dads coworker found her in the streets and with her collar traced her back to her old owner and the owner said he never wanted her again. So my dads cowerker set her up for adoption. When we started to check her out she didn't know how to play, chew a toy, and she looked very sad. Now she can play (kinda) she can't fetch (but my old cat could. Oh the irony) but she likes to run around and stuff. She also is very calm for a GSP (it's very rare) and I love her :) I'm glad we made her part of my family.
