If an employee tells you "have a nice day"...

... do you tell them "you too" ? i mean they are at work and propably have a bunch of more miserable hours ahead of them. feels kinda like mocking them to me

am i thinking to much into this ?

I mean you're still wishing that their work hours go well, that's a good sentiment.

Now, if say an airport employee tells you "have a nice flight" and you tell them "you too", THEN it's definitely cringeworthy.

@Sarah123: Ha, yeah that one's even better. That one almost seems like mockery because you get to enjoy that delicious thing they carried over to you while they have to bring more of them to a bunch of other people instead.
