My friend posted a bunch of AI generated portraits of herself to get opinions about new haircuts

I picked the one where it kind of looks like she has no shirt on and now she thinks I'm a pervert. Damn you AI

In the past, an artist would carefully craft a portrait over many laborious hours. Now, a simple upload or description is all it takes. It's a magical, technological advancement! Although, with great power comes great responsibility. AI-generated images can be extremely convincing, and it can be hard to tell if something is a real image, or AI-generated. People might trust these images over actual photos, which could be problematic in the wrong hands. ie ~ OP.

@plungesponge yeah, the main issues artists seem to have with AI art are around copyright, fear of job loss, and the ethics of AI training data. Many artists are worried their livelihoods are at stake as AI art could replace them, and do their jobs better and faster. Others feel that AI art cheapens the years of training and skill required to create traditional artwork.

However, some artists are embracing AI as a desirable collaborator, and an opportunity to explore new avenues of creativity. AI can expand human creativity, and many artists are keen to avoid being left behind by this new technology. Others see AI as a sector to work in, rather than compete with. Bit like electronic music in the 80's?
