I suspect they stay in character the whole time they are working. Notice that after the customer pays, that cashier says "... get out of here!" So he stayed in character, even after paying.

@DeWayfarer Yeah. I mentioned how they revert back. It's very Japanese. It's a weird culture but their consideration of others is something I really admire. So it must be fun for them to kind of throw that out the window for a bit. But it still ends when they walk out the door. Love it.

@Ynotisay well, you do have it right on it being a different culture. Yet I have a feeling few westerns really understand the culture.

They do have a long history of violence. In some ways worse than our own. I definitely can't say that I understand the culture.

Odd sense of honor.

This is not the only odd situation that I have seen. Some of their game shows are totally weird. Almost bizarre.

@DeWayfarer No doubt. They march to their own drummer. I couldn't do it as an American. They have pressures we don't deal with here. And yeah. Their game shows are nuts. :)
