You are better than this!

When do you use this expression?
(I need a lot of examples)
Thank you

When someone let's themself down with their behaviour, or when you want to encourage them to rise above negativity.

You might say it if they do drugs, for example, or they act out in some negative way. Or you might say it if they are distraught over a breakup from some shitty ex, in the sense that they are better than to be crying over someone not worth their time.

Why are you debiting a revenue account? You’re better than this.

Why are you still using the old utility tax reconciliation forms? You’re better than this.

Why didn’t you flush when you used the can? You’re better than this.

Don’t leave another half-eaten roach in your water bowl. You’re better than this.

Something to that effect when I want the person to hear I know they're better than what they're saying or how they're being treated.

I use it when the feeling that all hope is lost has overcome me or someone else that I know.
mostly when someone has said or done something disappointing.
Never I don’t think.

When someone I love is settling for less than they deserve or are capable of achieving.
