Is there any way to gracefully explain (true story) ...

A long time ago I worked at a store and there was a candy machine in the corner where you put in your quarter and a piece of candy came out. The candies were different colors and each color was a different flavor. One day an employee, a young black woman, put a quarter in the machine and got a white candy and said out loud "Oh, I hate the whites".
