I don't remember when but I had to do that as a kid, otherwise I wouldn't know what it feels like. xD

That's the way I usually check batteries but it's best not to try it with car batteries.

When I was a kid, that’s how we’d check 9-volts to see if they were still good. Apparently, it didn’t occur to us to just stick them in our walkie-talkies to check them that way.
