It has never happened, thankfully.
The only people who enter are maintenance. I usually know they are coming so can hide things.
I do see their footprints, though, and where they set stuff down. My carpet does not lie! But they leave my stuff alone.

Ha ha.
I always take my shoes off. But I would not expect maintenance to. They never leave it dirty, other than a few flecks of dust or whatever product they were using (wrapper for a filter?). I just see the indentation of their boots in the carpet.
My carpet is almost 10 years old. So I do not care. I should ask them to replace it. It is getting bubbly in some spots.
