Did your first love have an impact on your life at all?

DoubleRings · 51-55, F
yes for a long time but not so much anymore. in retrospect it taught me a lot about myself but only looking back with the wise eyes i have now.
kadecaprin27 · 31-35, M
@DoubleRings Right! certain mistakes you won't make the next time around or maybe just certain things you learn to stay away from.
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
no for me it was a lot deeper than that - that i had never ever been truly loved by a good male role model and didn’t know how a man should treat a woman so i tolerated a lot of BS @kadecaprin27

Mine was the girl of my dreams for the first 2 years. We'd met in high school and as always I hated rejection so I wrote a note saying "I really like you do you like me? ()yes () no and she checked yes from then on out I told her secrets that I would never want to tell anyone... I had many plans of marrying her and then one night I get a call saying she has an STD knowing I had never really had sex with anyone else many of my friends told me she was having sex with many other guys. As it turned out I tested negative but there was no way I could go back to that.
Maybe. She publicly humiliated me, making me more cautious about talking to women I'm interested in.

@PrivateHell That's terrible, what is even worse is I kinda know that feeling of humiliation and the doubt of the next person to come in to your life.

there were things i learned about myself through loving him, sure.
kadecaprin27 · 31-35, M
@SW-User Of course! as you should in relationships. It's just the fact that you never expect to learn that from being with someone else lol I personally thought I was going to learn everything about me by just experiencing my own adventure
MellyMel22 · F
Yes, a good one from the start. We still speak every once in awhile.
wackidywack · 26-30
Yeah I learned a lot from that
kadecaprin27 · 31-35, M
@wackidywack I learned a lot from trying to have a high school sweetheart. Sometimes things just don't work that way and you end up crushed.
gmatthewb · 51-55, M
Yes, a very negative one.
kadecaprin27 · 31-35, M
@gmatthewb I'm really sorry to hear that. Although most people think I am too young to understand that I was abused so I got attached to people a lot more because I went many years without having anyone to talk to or depend on when times were rough.
LyricalOne · F
Very much actually.
LindaM · 61-69, F
yes very much so...
SW-User
Yes I think so
Indy74 · 46-50, F
Honestly no!

He was in my life for a good 20+ years, so yes.
kadecaprin27 · 31-35, M
@JaggedLittlePill I have not been in a relationship for that amount of time lol I'm only 26 but one of my friends is out and about dating after a 25 year marriage. He still tries to be in her life but he could not deal with her "immaturity"
