Copperhead snake...I worked with woman who went home and said she smelled something like a dead rat in her bedroom...she told her husband "snakes smell like dead rats, I think there is a snake under the bed"...they went and looked and sure enough...with a broom and a hoe they got it...that would have been a nightmare if she didn't have a good sense of smell....snakes throw out a musky stink when they get scared and a scared copperhead is a dangerous one.

We are lucky we don't have the problem of snakes over here. @cherokeepatti

@pennynoodles you sure are, in my fantasies I live in a world without snakes where I can walk on a leaf-littered path in the woods without worrying about getting bit by one, where I can swim in the lake without having water moccasins swimming all around me or being able to fish without having to watch every minute for pygmy rattlesnakes, and pull weeds in my flowerbed without taking a stick to check for snakes before I do.🐍

We do get them but apart from one in my garden, I've never seen one of in the wild over here. @cherokeepatti

@pennynoodles I got a lot of grass snakes here, they don't bother anyone but I've also found a baby rattlesnake and some other types. I don't stick my hand anywhere outside where a snake can hide and I'm careful to use a hoe when I want to pick up a board off the ground, they can hide under things and then get you when you reach down to pick it up.

As you said, I am lucky @cherokeepatti
