Strong as steel

My hanging chair arrived from China the other day and I wanted to install it under the deck outside. I bought some solid mounts and attached one under the deck with long screws (4), then put a second one a little further up to act as a safety in case the first one broke or something.

I didn't have any metal bolt clips to attach the chair to the mount, so I thought I would give some big nylon tie wraps a try. These things seem to be super strong, but just to be safe I put 4 of them on it, and one going to the safety above. They are about a 1/4 inch wide each, so should be plenty strong right.

The chair hangs too low, almost touching the ground, but not quite, might be OK like this, but hard to get into it, but then I had the brilliant idea to swing the chair back a little, sit in it, then swing it so it is hanging straight down with me in it.

First part was a success, but as soon as I had it vertical with all my weight on it the 4 tie straps broke at the same time and the wooden cross bar at the top smacked me in the head as I hit the dirt below.

Did you anticipate the ending to this?

No blood, no brain damage (already have that). Will get a proper connection for it soon and try again.
