Another random moment

A few days ago, I experienced something strange. My eyes were closed, so all I saw was pure darkness, but at one point, there was a split moment when I saw this explosion of colored spots around the edges of my field of vision. I vaguely remember that happening once before, years ago. Did it have something to do with the person I was with?

It can be an indication of a stroke in your eye. My friend had an explosion of light before bed and he woke up blind in one eye. If you think you physically experienced that you may want to see a doctor.

I did leave out a slight detail, but I don't think it would change anything. I appreciate the responses & will continue looking into it

Maybe it was a cosmic ray?

In space, astronauts reported seeing flashes with their eyes closed, likey due to cosmic rays (fast, high energy particles).

Yet the Earth's magnetic field deflects some of them, and then the more of them, so I am not sure it can happen on the surface.

@JoyfulSilence That's interesting. And it's weird, I see clear spots (particles? not floaters) that bounce around when I look at the sky...not sure if that's related or something completely different

See an eye doctor. Maybe they will see something and can treat it.

As for me, I have diabetes and got floaters. They said the high sugar damaged my blood vessels in my retina and they started leaking. It is a common ailment of diabetics. The body also responds by growing new vessels which can cause problems with vision, even blindness.

I got laser treatment to zap them, and am now getting shots of a drug into my eyeballs (!!). The doctor says they are working. My swelling is down, and floaters are fading.

My doctor also said I am developing cataracts, so I suspect someday I will need surgery to clear those.
