What kind of home were you raised in? [I Love to Learn]

Dad is a liberal professor and both parents are active liberals. I am the same. My car is full of liberal bumper stickers but I do not live in hostile territory. What about you?

My mother was a devoted long term member of the old Soviet dominated Communist Party USA. She was very secretive about it as I grew up during the Red Scare era of the 1950s. She interrogated me with the use of drugs at night and threatened to have me tortured and killed by her group if I told anyone anything. You can read the awful details in my Featured story under my Profile here.

My father was a small businessman, and my mother was a secretary. It was a fairly conservative home, but my father was well-read and encouraged free thought and was open to more liberal ideas.
MedfordJay · 22-25, M
@exexec Interesting.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
My folks were hippies, cool hippies....live and let live types. Mom was liberal and religious Dad was libertarian and not very religious but he believed in god.
It was a stable and loving upbringing.
MedfordJay · 22-25, M
@FreeSpirit1 Great. Mine was loving too.

Isolated and harmonious mostly (if I don't count my father's frequent outbursts of frustration and fights with a sibling). My parents have lived for each other and for me and my brother all my life, both of them ardently avoiding any extensive social contact as long as their job didn't require it. Especially my mom tends to keep all people at an arm's length and prefers solitary activities. Both of them have always had stable full-time jobs but my father used to travel a lot abroad so we often stayed with mom only. We spent most summers with grandparents playing in their garden. Politics or religion never played a big role in our family.

My mum's conservative (not politically lol) and my dad is liberal (again, not politically). They clashed a whole lot throughout their marriage and still do hehe
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
i was split between homes. my grandparents were conservative and my mom is kinda liberal. i have never had this conversation with her,she probably would claim she sees a little of both sides

A good one with some blips along the way like most normal families, we were a work in progress at times but we learned to compromise occasionally ♥️

My folks were liberals until Johnson took over then they saw how liberals are racists and screwing up the country then they turned conservative which made them very happy. I was liberal until Obama then realized the liberals and socialists will ruin what was a great country. liberals / socialists are a sick perverted and elitist bunch of ass holes that are going to ruin the USA.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
Religious, Republicans. We don’t talk about it
MedfordJay · 22-25, M
@Powderflask Sorry to hear that.
I was born to and raised by a liberal Catholic interracial couple who were both originally from New Orleans, LA but met at college in New York.They married, moved to San Francisco, CA, where my siblings and I were all born. Both retired now, Pop was an architect, Mom a high school teacher. They will have been married for 65 years in June.
MOONAMONA86 · 36-40, F

Both parents worked all the time. They fostered kids and left me to take care of them and my younger siblings.
