Did you know: the left lung is smaller than the right?

the left lung is smaller than the right lung to accommodate the heart, which is located on the left side of the chest cavity. The left lung has only two lobes, while the right lung has three, and the left lung also contains a cardiac notch, an indentation specifically for the heart.
Why the difference in size?
Heart's Position: The heart is positioned slightly to the left within the chest, and the left lung has evolved to make space for it.
Lobe Structure: This spatial requirement leads to a different structure: the left lung has two lobes and a concavity called the cardiac notch, whereas the right lung has three lobes and is larger.
Evolutionary Factor: The difference in lung size and structure is a fundamental feature in mammals, likely an evolutionary adaptation that allows the heart to be situated in the most efficient position

Actually, yes I did!
The Q is, WHY??

Fun fact you could cut out 3/4ths of a healthy persons lungs and they would be fine but a smokers lungs couldn’t even survive 1/4 removal.
Ours are miniature 👯
