Did you know: That a spacecraft called Kosmos 482 is scheduled to crash on Earth between May 7th - 13th

the Kosmos 482 spacecraft is scheduled to re-enter Earth's atmosphere and crash down on Earth between May 7th and 13th. While a specific landing location is difficult to predict, most experts agree it will likely splash down in a body of water rather than hitting land

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
What is Kosmos 482?
It's a Soviet-era spacecraft, originally designed as a Venus probe in 1972, but its launch failed, leaving it in Earth orbit.
Why is it crashing down?
The spacecraft's orbit has been decaying due to atmospheric drag, eventually leading to its uncontrolled re-entry.
When is it expected to crash?
The reentry is predicted to occur sometime between May 7th and 13th, with the most likely time being around May 10th.
Where will it land?
The exact location is uncertain, but the most probable scenario is a splashdown in the ocean or a remote area,
Is it dangerous?
While the chance of a spacecraft hitting anyone or something is low

🤔. I’ll make sure to carry an umbrella just in case

Hang on a little minute. Its been up there since 1972 and NO-ONE thought to grapple it and bring it back down, safely?
AND our "experts* have repeatedly decided over the last 40 YEARS, to "let it crash down" with a 20% chance of hittting somewhere crucial?
I think we need new experts

@NOS4R2 Were it economically practical to capture space debris, and they could capture one piece of debris every single day, the cleanup would take over 140 years...

@NOS4R2 You have good point, but your position on the totum pole means you will not listened to.

70% of Earth is water, at least 10% has to be "remote".
We need "experts" to calculate those odds?

Ok so lets rent a boat and try to catch it 🤣
@Silentpleasure lets see if sn alien is on board 👽

@Bexsy oh that would be cool! 😎

that illustration reminds me of the movie "the Thing"

It's a cold war era Nuke Bus. Carrying several multi megaton sized old Hydrogen Bombs.
Allegedly they never put any such things into orbit and neither did we. Wink wink.
@icedsky wink, wink, nudge nudge.

Such secrets!

I wonder if the heat of re-entry will fragment it.
Welp there goes Beckys back yard
@NightsWatch I'll be Waiting with my camera
If it belonged to Russia then it may still have an astronaut inside it.

Put your Wookie mask on just in case there are aliens on board.

Bet you dollars to donuts there’s gonna be some kind of alien organism on it thats gonna destroy us all.
@Captainjackass maybe the lifeform just coming to bring me home!

@Bexsy you certainly act like your from another planet.
@Captainjackass thank you
