I am doing an Oxford law degree. Every other module on it is the kind of thing you'd expect: criminal, constitutional, tort, contract, et cetera.
For some reason they have us do a module called 'an introduction to Roman private law'. I've been told that it's both because of tradition and that Roman private law is pretty closely related to contract law
