College Football is the NFL only the players don’t get paid.

The schools get hundreds of millions but the players nothing!

That was absolutely true... and maybe still mostly true. But they at least can get paid via endorsement deals now

@Viper Yeah, which may help the star players. And lots of time traveling. The “Big 10” is coast to coast!
Viper · M
@Bumbles The Big 10 will be coast to coast, but they previously weren't, and I'm interested in seeing how they handle that.

Maybe the Eastern teams will have two West Coast travels per year.

The Western teams are screwed in terms of travel, as not only are the East teams far away, most of the Western teams aren't even that close to each other (other than the two L.A. teams)

@Viper Indeed. USC playing Rutgers…nuts.
Viper · M
@Bumbles They signed up for it... and Rutgers is just lucky to be there.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@Viper Yes, they did, but I don’t think that justifies their not being paid.
Viper · M
@Bumbles Oh just to be clear, I'm saying the school signed up for the long travel, not nessarily the students.

Especially not the students that signed up BEFORE the conference switch.

Technically the students get paid in education money, though I do agree they deserve more.

I've been saying for at least a decade, at bare minimum, they should be getting gym education credit for participating in sports or some other class credits for the time and energy, it should mean they don't have to take as many other electives at the bare minimum.

That's just bare minimum, not taking about going above the bare minimum.

Also included in the bare minimum, should be free meals at least breakfast lunch and dinner.

Which I'm happy to hear that since the NCAA F###ING FINALLY allowed the schools to give food out for free... and some of the larger schools have set up 24/7 food areas for athletes to grab food if they need some, all they need is their school issues ID card to unlock the door.

Though, I still kinda think that should be open for all students, and be part of tuition. But especially students that are busy involved in extra school activities and might not have time for a job.

And if they don't give free educational credits for sports, such as a gym class or elective credit, then they absolutely should be paid a salary for their official time they have to be there.

@Viper Well said. I was thinking compensation could even be deferred until graduation and pooled. There has to be a better way and I don’t think the endorsement deals are enough.
Viper · M
@Bumbles Yeah, I was honestly surprised, as the end was near, that the NCAA didn't come together and give them something...

Like I was expecting them to give all athletes in videos games to get X amount... and the players would be excited they're getting paid to be in the games and less wanting to break free, but they did absolutely nothing (other than allowing schools to give free food, which should be allowed for all students in my opinion anyways).

@Viper I wish schools would leave the NCAA. If a few big ones did at once the whole thing would collapse. It doesn’t serve the interests of the students.
Viper · M
@Bumbles I think you need some sort of overall organization, and it would need multiple conferences to leave, not just schools. And they would need a new organization of some sort.

I think money greed is the issue and that issue will be had in any and all organizations, not just the NCAA. The NCAA serves the schools, not the students.

@Viper You’re probably right, but I’d love it if Michigan and Alabama told the NCAA to f-off and everyone followed. Then Harbaugh wouldn’t be suspended, too. 😆
Viper · M
@Bumbles That's a different story, Jim Harbaugh is a known lier and has been for decades. The only thing I don't comprehend, is that everyone seems to know what he's saying is a clear and obvious lie at times, except for him.

So maybe he's not a lier, as he truly believes the lies he is telling, no matter how stupid they are.

Like when Peyton Manning was a FA (before signing with Denver), Peyton was working with an old college coach, whom was it now and employee of Duke University (I believe it was Duke, North Carolina either way).

The entire 49ers senior staff, Owner, GM, Head coach, all their top Senior guys, randomly went to Duke (or whatever North Carolina school it was)....

All of them avoided the Peyton Manning questions, except Jim Harbaugh, as he kept swearing, that the 49ers had absolutely no interest in Peyton Manning. But he also couldn't explain why they were there, if not for Peyton.

There is no way an entire senior staff goes to one single location, unless it's one of the all time greats. There don't even do that for a game like Alabama and Georgia when they know 10 to 20 future 1st round picks will be playing to scout them.

Jim Harbaugh is a great coach, but he is also an absolutely egoistic bold faced lier.

So to think he lied to try to save his butt... that's not hard to believe, not at all. It's also not hard to believe, that he truly believes whatever lies it was that he told. As he generally seems to believe the bullshit that comes out of his mouth, no matter how stupid and obviously false it is. And I truly believe he could lie and easily pass a polygraph test, as there is something odd about him, as he believes himself more than the truth.

PS: It was well known that Peyton wanted to stay in the AFC, as Eli was in the NFC and didn't want to face each other in the playoffs until it was the Super Bowl.

And I'm very happy that John beat Jim in the Super Bowl.

@Viper Fair enough. He may be a liar, but he’s our liar. In a corrupt system, there’s no honor among thieves.
Viper · M
@Bumbles He's certainly not my liar lol

And I try not to make acceptions for negativites just because they help me, in fact, you just blew your entire argument about the NCAA as they used the same horrible logic.

This is horrible system, but it's our traditional horrible system that benefits us, so we're keeping everything as it is. Same as your defense of Jim Harbaugh.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@Viper I freely admit my hypocrisy. No justification for it whatever.

Oh, and Go Blue!
