I got approached by some young guys at the grocery store asking for donations for getting into college. Has this ever happened to you?

I was looking at the peeps selection because i love those things and I got approached by 2 young guys with a clipboard they were showing me they were interested in these schools and wanted to know if i would like to donate to help them get in or something along those lines. I told them I'm sorry but no but the one kept pushing and I said no I don't have a lot of money and walked away. I saw them go off to someone else. I don't know if you are genuine or just trying to scam. Part of me really wants to believe they were genuine but there's other ways to fund raise than approach strangers at a store.

It actually makes shopping uncomfortable. They should ban those kinds.

@Casheyane I don’t even like going to Sams Club and someone who is selling phone or satellite dish plans approaches me to give me a spiel on changing over to their plan. I walk quickly past them.

@cherokeepatti Tbh I don't know what Sams Club is, but I can see how that can get uncomfortable.

In our country, there are some people who go inside malls to ask around for money, especially on restaurants. They get pity so maybe some give them.
Honestly, I'm tempted to. But in the long run, I don't want to encourage them to do that in such places.

@Casheyane had a guy approach me in a health food store at the back of the store when I was shopping. The store wasn’t that busy (mid-week) and the lady who is usually there to assist in the herbal section was away. He approached me giving me a spiel of how he is homeless & needed help if I could give him some $. I just looked at him and he continues saying he’s never asked anyone before for help…I just stared at him. So he went away. It’s against the law to do this outside a business much less inside. There are meal kitchens, food pantries, clothing closets and so much more available for the homeless and then they do this. He chose to approach an older woman who was alone in the far end of the store and no witnesses to what he was doing. Had I given him $ it would have likely went for alcohol or drugs and the police have warned people not to do it considering everything that is given for free. The police have to deal with them when they are out on the streets high or drunk wreaking havoc.
