I got approached by some young guys at the grocery store asking for donations for getting into college. Has this ever happened to you?

I was looking at the peeps selection because i love those things and I got approached by 2 young guys with a clipboard they were showing me they were interested in these schools and wanted to know if i would like to donate to help them get in or something along those lines. I told them I'm sorry but no but the one kept pushing and I said no I don't have a lot of money and walked away. I saw them go off to someone else. I don't know if you are genuine or just trying to scam. Part of me really wants to believe they were genuine but there's other ways to fund raise than approach strangers at a store.

@Nitedoc There are plenty of jobs. Not enough young people wanting to get their hands dirty doing service type work.

@cherokeepatti I know! It's unbelievable.

@Nitedoc They want to get a good-paying job before they graduate. I think all students should do service jobs for at least a year. To understand how the lower ranked jobs really are, how people treat service workers and to develop empathy for those who do it full-time. Would be a lot less disrespect for those workers if this would happen.

@Nitedoc yah 50 years ago when tuition was 5,000 for 4 years

@SW-User yeah the difference is some of these kids don’t want to work to help pay their tuition etc. And some of them will let their daddy pay for everything and then apply for food stamps and buy lobster and other expensive foods with them…after daddy has given them grocery money. They can buy wines in grocery stores here too. See a lot of them buying it.
