Here’s an idea…

If you can’t afford to go to college without going into debt…

DON’T GO. It’s that simple. College is a waste of money anyway.

Asking the government to pay off the money you wasted on a useless piece of paper saying you’re “smart” is like asking them to pay off the shitty motorcycle you spent $20,000 when you were drunk. It’s not the government’s job to compensate you for your bad decisions.

And for those of you saying “Colleges should just stop charging such high tuition,” I AGREE! That’s why having the government pay for it isn’t going to fix it. They can keep raising tuition, and the government will just keep raising taxes to pay that tuition. Here’s how to fix the problem. If you can’t afford tuition, rather than taking out a loan, just tell the college, “Sorry, I can’t pay that. I’ll go to trade school or get a job instead of wasting thousands on your overpriced piece of paper.”
Then encourage your friends to do the same. Eventually, those schools will either go out of business due to low enrollment or be forced to lower their tuition in order to keep their students. Then boom, problem solved. No need for student loans anymore.

That’s how capitalism is supposed to work.

No one seems to have realized they can go the Abraham Lincoln route, and READ BOOKS to obtain an education. Do some jobs require degrees? Yes. BUT...The second ex was eventually able to become a NUCLEAR ENGINEER, just by reading books and taking tests at power plants where he worked.

The fact that anyone put the second ex in charge of nukes, however, should scare all of you.

@4meAndyou the problem is...most of the Books are not common as other books Lincoln reads.

@FreestyleArt Reading lists for any college or university are readily available at student bookstores, AND used student books are always for sale when students complete their courses. Of course, a brain surgeon can't go that route, but ANYONE with a thirst to learn can post a 3x5 card on the student union bulletin board asking to buy the used books.

Or maybe choose a major with high career demand that pays money. These liberal arts and art degrees are not reliable.

Supposed to work but rarely ever does.
And some of the stuff you can learn in college is not useless.
College isn't useless.

@Spoiledbrat It is if you don’t major in a STEM field, or law.

Well, a lot of jobs or good paying jobs requires a bachelor's degree and if you don't have bachelor's a workers way of getting out of low-skill labor jobs is by working their way up to the top which can take years but a person's with a degree can go many places so I wouldn't say it's a useless piece of paper when thousands of people are getting good jobs by it.
