Yep. Education should be free anyway.

better ????? How would paying for someone elses education be a better thing? i pay enough taxes for social programs & cant afford more taxes to be taken away from me. Why dont YOU pay someones loans?
My neice is paying for her own education. My nephews are paying for their own educations. They arent ammasing debt they cant handle. Why stop at student loans. Why not ALL loans. WHy not ALl mortages. Why not just make everything for free.
People make choices & have to live with those choices.

@pdockal And for the people who can't afford education?. What of them?.
If the societal messaging is for people to go to college and be educated then the society should facilitate that. And no not better for you and me, better for the next generation. That is the point, we're supposed to leave things better for them.

@pdockal You know that's a hyperbolic comparison. Well a lot of them do, unfortunately colleges have focused more on being a business and thus are charging extortionate rates. We either take action on the colleges or we give loans to facillitate that. Otherwise highly skilled people will be lacking in the economy and it will also dip. It would take a person maybe a decade or more considering the cost of living and wage to inflation ratio.

@Ryannnnnn
dont go to college if you cant afford it .... thats what most people do ... unless you have your fucking hand out
if people werent going then the colleges would have to reduce costs so your argument is backward
stop raising my taxes with programs that only benefit the few
NONE OF MY DEBTS were ever forgiven ... not for medical issues, not for being unemployed and i wouldnt expect that or look for that ....

@pdockal Luckily I'm not in your country so you're safe.

Here's an article in my country that supports your point. I'd make a concession in my point and say the government should provide said support for only those who come from low income families and are stuck in low paid jobs with low oppurtunity for progression/wage increases. I think that's fairer for everybody and makes more sense.

@Ryannnnnn community College .... find a company who pays for your college .... GI Bill ... there are plenty of ways in my country to get it done but the people want things for free ... they want higher wages but don't want to be on time for their job etc
When i was younger if my parents could pay for things they sacraficed and got second jobs ... they made choices ....
