Do university professors call their students "colleagues" in other countries or just here? [I Am In University]

Like "Let's hear what our colleague has to ask". It was kinda weird at first but cute 😅

Nah, we go by students lol

And calling them professor sounds hogwart-ish. I remember when an American dude in one of my lectures thanked the lecturer before leaving with a "thanks professor". She was taken aback, flipped her hair and said "professor sounds so much more official" lol

@HijabaDabbaDoo calling them by just their names is sooo cool, the problem with that here would be that we use the plural form in order to be formal with someone so we couldn't do it anyway 😅 it's mostly an age thing as well.

Lol I like it when I'm being called mrs in general, especially by kids 😂 I'm getting old 😌
@HannibalAteMeOut I totally get it. In the pakistani culture you don't call anyone who's older by their name unless it's followed by a title of respect. Basically, everyone and their dad's are your uncles or aunts even if you're not related.

Whereas in the British culture, you're expected to call everyone but school teachers from the ages 3 to 16, by their names lol.

So I guess I flip on and off depending on who I'm talking to.

@HijabaDabbaDoo that aunt and uncle thing is prominent in our villages here, it's like calling you mrs is too formal but calling you by your name is too informal, so aunt will do 😅

They wanna sound like the whole class is one team. Its an expression of being together as one.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@Donotfolowme I don't think they care that much tbh

I hope not. That's kinda dumb. They aren't colleagues in the factual sense.

That kinda reminds me of the retardation at my nephews charter school. They refuse to call their students, students and instead insist they be called "scholars". Apparently the brilliant minds teaching at this high place of academia weren't ever educated on the meaning of the word scholar.

@MethDozer hahaha ikr idk why they call us that but it's been a thing for decades in every Uni here.

@HannibalAteMeOut Sounds like jerk-off
