I Don't Think a College Degree Always Indicates Intelligence

It certainly won’t in my case. I am going to do a degree in Fine Arts and Ceramics. I got a place in uni. I am so looking forward to September!

did you check on the job market for that degree so you can be sure you will get a good paying job in that degree??? lot of those art degrees and liberal arts degrees don't get you a good paying job.
SW-User
@trackboy sometimes college is for learning and expanding, not for potential earning. anyone going into any Art knows they will not be wealthy from their art
trackboy · 22-25, M
@SW-User that is the role of high school. college is to learn a good paying job field. costs to much and takes to much time out of your life if it does not lead to a good career.
SW-User
@trackboy no, high school is to babysit, college is for learning, yes it is true many use it for potential earning in the future, but that is not exclusive.
Blodyn · 22-25, F
No. You are so wrong. You count success in dollars. You live in the only country that does that. Maybe the American publishers accidentally left out the word happiness when they published your dictionary, @trackboy
trackboy · 22-25, M
@SW-User you learn a lot in high school. humanities. literature. English reading and writing. advanced reading tactics. theater. music. industrial arts like metal working wood working electricity welding and auto shop. cooking. history. social studies. sciences like biology and chemistry and earth science. arts like painting and music and sculpture. college is for specialized education in a career . college is very expensive. to costly for a general education. you got your general education in high school.
SW-User
@trackboy but once you go to college and find out how bad the "general education" was you may look at it differently. dont get me wrong, i know college is expensive, but if the only purpose of it was for better employment there would be a lot more vocational training there.
trackboy · 22-25, M
@SW-User there are some high school that pass idiots. but you have to be fairly smart in high school. and they are many levels of classes. from the classes that allow the dumber students to get a degree. to the higher classes that give you a really good education. here the vocational classes are taken as one year diplomas or 2 year associate degrees in community classes. the high school vocational classes are more to see if your going to like that field before you go to college for it.
Blodyn · 22-25, F
I think your education system is different from ours. We have a lot of vocational courses with work placements. There are academic courses as well. But if the teachers in other colleges are as good as ours we are getting a very good education. Also in FE colleges we have to achieve high standards in Welsh and Maths, no matter what is our main subject. We have to get Level 3 in both. If we don’t we have to take the tests until we do. Level 3 is the same as A level.@trackboy
trackboy · 22-25, M
@Blodyn what do the people that are not good in math but good in everything else do??
Blodyn · 22-25, F
Art. @trackboy
trackboy · 22-25, M
@Blodyn hmm low paying jobs as artists then. lot of other fields that you don't really use math but they push it as part of the degree so they are kept out of those fields they could do.
Blodyn · 22-25, F
I love Art. @trackboy
Blodyn · 22-25, F
And that counts for a lot in my country. I don’t live in the United States where everything is counted in dollars and cents. @Blodyn

@Blodyn you been to any art museums there? lot of really big art museums here. we have the art institute in downtown Chicago. huge place. grant wood paintings. most of the major artists have paintings there. one room with the glass paper weights with many things inside them. another room with doll houses. rooms with statues. pottery. long hall with swords and armour. then there is the field museum of natural history with a Egyptian tomb there brought over block by block. the stuffed the ghost and darkness lions. watch the movie about them called the ghost and the darkness. there are dinosaurs there too. and also the Chicago museum of science and industry. and there is the Chicago gay pride parade in june in Chicago. a quarter of a million gay guys go to it every year. its the gathering of the klans.
