I Am In College

As tuition goes up each year is college even worth the student loan debt. Back when my mom was in college(my dad went to a trade school), a degree was really worth something. Nowadays, it seems students are more in debt and are working minimum wage jobs to pay off that instead of working in the field they got a degree in, unless you're going for the medical field. I've been at my junior college for 3 years and hated it every since day one. The only reason I'm still in college because I'll be done next year. To be honest I've learned more from my PE classes that I took than from my required classes that I have to take. The education system isn't what it use. I believe high school and college should teach basic life skills and actually prepare us for the working world we have to ascend to after graduation.

we were told things, that wer not true,, when you pare3nts were young tuition was lowere, a LOT lower and often free
now it is a scam,, borrow MANY thousands,, in hopes of a better future, one where you will owe asmuch as a new house, just to compeat in the market
watch, "inequality for aLL" A Documentary about how this all is happening. on you tube i think

@Amylynne trust me I know college is a scam I wanted to know how many people know it is too. Yeah some are successful in getting out debt free but it's still a scam period.

education is REAL and Valuable, but the money merchants have turned EVERY THING into monopoly cards for there fucked up game

@Amylynne yes that's so true. I'd drop out if my parents wasn't paying for my books are ridiculously high even if I'm renting them.
College students used to be able to pursue a career that truly interested them, and they would be able to be financially secure. Now, students need to choose a high paying field even if they know that they won't enjoy the work, just so that they can repay their student loans. It's crazy. There is a college in southern MO called College of the Ozarks. It is virtually tuition free if the student works while in the school. It is a fantastic deal.

@Autumnlover I heard some colleges are tuition but most of them are in Europe. I didn't know there were some in the US except for San Francisco but you have to be living there for a year in order to get free education
Yes, but it's totally worth it. Getting out of college without being $60,000 in debt is worth relocating for 5 years.

@Autumnlover yes you're right about that.

I've been going to the same Junior college for 3 years too now the only reason why I am still attending is to pull up my GPA and graduate with an associates. I absolutely hate it and now I have to spend another semester paying my books out of pocket again because financial aid didn't shave enough for my book voucher and isn't cheap and they are rentals! and I still haven't gotten all of my books. I agree college is a scam and back then people were a little lucky to afford their education and get a career.

The world just want to fill their pockets.

@Chickie I feel your pain, financial aid only covers my classes but my parents pay for my books. I'm changing p my major so I can get a certificate and finish by summer next year. My mom says I need a part-time job so I can pay for my books but I don't want to be in school I want to work instead. But everyone was telling me to stay in school in get my degree instead. 😑
