Depends on different factors. How motivated is the kid. Are you able to be a proficient teacher in various subjects? Or can you at least know basic steps?
londonbr1dge · 26-30, F
I know for myself I do better in school because I get a vibe of needing to focus. But whenever I did home school I got really really lazy. HOWEVER. If a kid can pick up a subject quickly it's nice to be able to breeze through it and not be stuck doing it every day for a semester period because some kids aren't stuck. You get what I'm saying?

@londonbr1dge: I would have learned things better at home rather than focusing on the bullies chasing me all the time

From personal experience I was home schooled from age 3 to age 9, and when finally enrolled in a school, it was really hard to get along and I didn't have any communication skills at all, and from my opinion, it has its pros, but it also has it's cons, most people think it is bad, because you've been thought by your parents, and when you go and get thought by a teacher and start to get grades and all it might be a little shocking..

the teacher is a difference for home schoolers. my dad has me on a routine, chores, class time, study time, class time study, chores, "homework". i turned 16 last january. i graduate high school this year after testing out of 2 grades. gpa 4.0 i go to the school 2 days a week for 2 classes to met my requirements i am unable to meet at home. this also allows me to attend any school function. however most of my social learning with people my own age is from 4h, ffa, and horse shows and rodeos.

i respectfully say, you can't group all kids in any category. not all home schoolers are a certain way, not all public school students are a certain way and not all private school students are a certain way.

We have been homeschooling for the past fourteen years. We have our kids involved in community, sports, and church activities. They are socially integrated.

Plus, they are not being indoctrinated by government schools. We are glad we made this choice.

No, unless you live somewhere with a shitty public school system like the United States
lipstickguy · 61-69, M
no, they need social interaction
kayleyem · 22-25, F
@sissyboyinheels: all need social interaction there are a lot of kids in public school that do not get the interaction because they are withdrawn do to bullying, lack of confidence/shy etc.

i know every state is different, but some states require documented social time, either working with the public, social events, etc.

@kayleyem: oh I know I am a graduate of the Los Angeles public school district and back then all we needed was to show up
kayleyem · 22-25, F
@sissyboyinheels: well, i dont know what it was like "back then" or in LA but every where is different and times are different, home school has even changed a lot during the last 8 or 9 years since i've been in it.

i dont believe anyone can say is home schooling better than public school or vice versa as a generic rule. to many variables and no school district is the same. plus each student is different. i do better at home schooling than my older brother, because every student is different. and whom ever is doing the home school is different than the others.

Can be. Most of the schools in the US are shit.

Probably not. They'll just end up being the 'odd kids'.
MiserableAtBest · 18-21, F
@Thodsis: What's wrong with being the ' odd kids '??
I'm considered odd and weird, and I don't see the problem with that..

@mia05013: You might not be a teenager.
