Where did you learn English?

I grew up in Carpathian Ruthenia and we were quite fortunate that there were some Germans living there among us. One of the Germans has an English wife and she taught at the language school club.

I have noticed that there is a difference between American English and the original from the United Kingdom. Word spellings and pronunciation. You have to listen for the way in which they speak to get the meaning.

I was born in Italy.
When I was 8 (1996) the Italian government introduced a law that made English compulsory in every school, so I started then and studied all the way up the end of high school (2007).
I was one of the best learners in my class, especially after my Australian classmate moved back to Australia when we were 11.
My English was good, but still basic: I've definitely improved my skills by moving to the UK in 2013 and being surrounded by non-Italian speakers.

I was born on the European continent and learned English at school, like most people from the continent.

Later in my teenage years, I attended a Summer course of intensive English in Ireland. I loved the people and the country, so I decided to stay for a while. That stay extended beyond just one year and now, I call Ireland my home.

English is my mother tongue and I have and use a large vocabulary. My mother was born in Wales and my father was born in Canada I kind of straddle the line. My cousin from Wales came to visit his family in Canada. He couldn't stop laughing at a word he saw in Calgary. Shaganappi. It means rawhide that was wrapped around wagon wheels in Canada. It means something very different in England.

I grew up in France with British parents. I learned English starting when I was 7 from a private English tutor with a posh southern accent. So I don't have the same accent as my parents.

I was born and raised in Ohio, in the US.

Yes, the Brits speak and spell funny. 😁
So do some Americans!

My boss is from China. He keeps missing the "s" to make things plural, and forgets words like "the".
Glamour (UK and Canada, etc.); glamor (US).
I personally, although American, prefer the Brit spelling of this word: seems more glamourous.
