Is it time to update the lesson plan? Books written in 1950s still taught in 2024!

@jehova The themes still hold very true today. What about the book and it's central themes do you feel are outdated? Racism? Coming of age? Integrity?

@jehova There is only one "p" in opinion. You're entitled to think whatever you want. This is a public forum so you can obviously express those thoughts, too. Likewise can others counter your thoughts with their own. Yet it seems when your thoughts are challenged, you resort to name calling. Now who is acting like an "adult?"

@jehova What I'm referring to is your use of the word "oldtimer." And wouldn't you agree that saying "shut tfu" is hardly civil discourse? In terms of "ancient texts," my understanding is that description is usually reserved for things written considerably longer ago. I wasn't aware that there had been an academic shift toward classifying work more than 30 years old as ancient.

But moving on, are there books that you believe to be more contemporary and relevant when it comes to the themes of racism?
