@puck61 I think a close examination of history will show many examples of 'civilized' societies exporting violence and the tools of destruction to others. The phrase, What goes around comes around springs to mind!

@fairefoutre In my country, a small cross section of 13% of the population. Maybe 4% thereabouts, manages to commit 51% of the violent crimes. This is because of culture and poverty, not race. I am sure, the stats would be relatively the same if the shoe were on the other foot. I am a supporter of racial and cultural autonomy, but by no means 'racist'. I just refuse to claim it's raining when someone is pissing on my leg.

@GerOttman Perhaps poetic justice is in play, but it is still humanity's responsibility to care for each other, and we still need to fight for the things we need and want. That fighting can be both figurative and literal.

@fairefoutre If England had remained English, the violence would be astronomically less than it is now. In Sweden, the violence against women would be astronomically less frequent if they had remained Swedish. They kill themselves trying to cover up the truth in the name of political correctness.

@fairefoutre History is cruel. Name a country where one people were not displaced by another. Consider the Picts. Afghanistan is as close as you are going to get, yet even they fell victim to the Saracens. Colonialism and conquest by Europeans led to progress in the long run. Atrocities are a side effect of progress, as much as they are senseless tragedies born of the darker side of humanity. In the long run, it's just natural selection. Survival of the fittest. When the smartest and strongest conquer, humanity gets some extra time on earth.
That is the mean and cruel 'big picture'.
