Do I need to prove my English Proficiency?

I am planning to apply into a university in Hong Kong. (Studying Abroad)
Although Cantonese is commonly spoken, English is quite valued / respected there.

They require a proof of proficiency in English. I do have one, which is my English O-Level results. However, it doesn't accurately reflect my proficiency as I scored a C5 / C6 for it. (It's peculiar as my friends whom scored better than me has a lower vocabulary of English)

It only shows that my English is functional, but not proficient.
So I'm thinking of going to an Open Exam Centre to take a Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) Test to accurately reflect my proficiency in English.

Do you think it'll help improve my chances into getting in? (I assume that recent test results hold more weight)

Side note: I'm planning to take up Psychology. If I'm ambitious enough, maybe a double degree in Social Sciences and Art.

I would sure think that a more recent test would help a lot.

For bachelors they don't ask for English and for masters, those marks are good enough to apply in China. You will learn the rest by practices English there. Secondly, You may found them not good in English either so don't worry. Just apply

@SW-User Yeah I probably could! ^^
Within this period of time, I did my IELTS 8/9 and took up TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), so I think I'm pretty much set!

cool
You only made two obvious mistakes in your post. I would say your English is fine.

Correct me, so I'll know. I assume it's my grammar. :/
I used to interchange 'can' with 'could' and 'will' with 'would'.
I didn't know they were respectively past tenses of each other until someone corrected me.
