At what age is it common for children to know their own phone number and address?

When I was 4 years old my parents taught me to know my full name, address, my phone number and my parents names.

So...at what age should children learn this information? And...what age is common nowadays for children to know this?

I had a friend whose two daughters did not know this information (except for parent names) at ages 8 and 9. He laughed it off saying his girls were unable to learn it.

From my point of view, it's a matter of safety. As soon as a child can learn basic information they should be encouraged to remember it.

As young as they can possibly know it.

I'd say 4 is a good age. I think I read 3 is a good age to show/tell kids how to dial 911 if there is something 'bad' going on, or someone is hurt. They said to share the address as well, and I think if you make it a repeat kind of mantra for them, they'll remember it (address). I think 3 or 4 is def. a great age for kids to know their name and address

@Coralmist I agree. Of course, when I was a kid back in the 1950s there was no 911.

I taught my kids early but was surprised that they had this stuff included in the
1st grade curriculum ... the kids actually learned where they lived and had to ‘learn’ how to dial a phone ... we as parents had to answer the phone when the kids called during school hours ... sooooo what age is that?! 6!

I think it’s very important to know. I would say 4.

@BlueRain Thank you. 4 sounds about right to me.
