Does a circle have 360 sides or 1

Trying to do vacation homework help
Lila15 · 22-25, F
A circle has 360 degrees, but a degree refers to the angle, not sides. Like a "L" is a 90 degree angle, so put 4 of them together and you get a "+" which is all 360 degrees.

I could explain this better in person.

Absolutely 1, when people hear side they think straight line, but how many sides has a cylinder? 3, and one of them goes round it. A circle has one side and 360 degrees.
Mordi · 31-35, M
Circles are just a figment of your imagination.

@Mordi lol

@MalteseFalconPunch Well, I guess because it's a single continuous curve with no corners.
Highonheels · 51-55, M
@OggggO yes I think a side is defined as multiple straight lines coneecting at many points that form a shape for example a square has four sides or four straight lines connecting at four points. Where a circle ⭕️ has no straight lines just one curved line so if curved lines count as a side then I’d say one but otherwise if a side should be a straight line then I’d say zero sides
Highonheels · 51-55, M
@OggggO unless it a trick question if each 1 degree of the circle counts as a side with a curved line connecting at the 1 degree points then it would be 360 sides by I doubt it , then again some questions require free thought outside the box of the choices given
marava · 41-45, F
infinite sides
xLily · F
@marava that's not an option on the worksheet
marava · 41-45, F
it should be

A circle has no sides
It's a constant degree of sorts
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
It's not called a "side", it's called a circumference.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@xLily They didn't ask us questions like that when I was in school. Lol :)
xLily · F
@NankerPhelge lucky 😩
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@xLily Yeah, if they'd asked such a question in 1974 I might not have got 100% in my maths exam that year. Lol :)
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
It has two sides. an inside and an outside.
1 side, unless yu count the inside?
Jibby · 56-60, C
A zero is a circle so I'll say zero
Jibby · 56-60, C
@xLily @xLily I think it's undetermined and the answer is X they may be giving you two answers to see if you're smart enough to know they are both wrong
xLily · F
??? You've lost me lol
Jibby · 56-60, C
There is no answer because there's no determined size of the circle it could have any number of sides it drove me crazy and that's the best answer I could get off Google that make sense
OggggO · 36-40, M
They have an outside, plus an inside if they are hollow.
OggggO · 36-40, M
@xLily The 360 thing is just the number of degrees we have semi-arbitrarily declared they have. It was picked because it's evenly divisible into several common fractions, such as halves, thirds, quarters, fifths, and tenths. It has no special significance of it's own.
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@OggggO R. Buckminster Fuller says that a circle is a polygon with a very high number of sides, that only looks round because the sides are too small to see.
prettywoman · 26-30, F
@Lila15 well maybe on paper, but our definition of a circle is mostly in our heads where it is perfectly round, even if it is impossible for that to be in real life
wakanda4eva · 26-30, F
Well google says zero so I have my bets on that lol, but I think if you look at it from different angles it gets more complicated
is taht the exact question in your home work? sides? then one. I like helping with education
xLily · F
@SatyrService yeah that's the question. Thanks
Highonheels · 51-55, M
Technically circles don’t really have any sides but I’d go with one , with a 360 degree radius
wakanda4eva · 26-30, F
Probably 1
SW-User
@wakanda4eva circles have no sides lmao
wakanda4eva · 26-30, F
@SW-User meh it's hard to know for sure
SW-User
@wakanda4eva 😂😁

There's no reason for it to be 360, except that someone arbitrarily decided that 360° would be the angle of a full circle
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP 360 is the number of degrees in a circle. Degrees are not "sides".
